Experience
I grew up both living on a farm and living in the city, so my early years were an interesting mix. At college, I began to see things even more broadly and learned two languages and small parts of others. It was important to me to be a good host if I had a non-native English speaker in my home and to be a polite guest if I traveled to their country. As teacher and a tutor, I've helped others learn foreign languages, and I have worked as a volunteer teacher in France, Japan, and here in the U.S. to help others learn English. If your goal is to learn a foreign language, I can help you make that happen. Many people have learning a foreign language on their life "to do" list. I aspire to help you make it more than that. I believe becoming bilingual creates exceptional opportunities and advantages. It can increase your chances of landing a new job, give you the ability to communicate with more people, or prepare you for an overseas adventure. Also, adding a new language will give you the chance to experience the movies, humor, recipes, and literature of a new culture. When I am not pursuing my interest in languages in some way, I like to bake or explore the outside, either alone or with my children, whom I homeschool.
